Just What the Title Says

The good news: I'm writing again.

The bad news: I've decided to not post anything until the new year. That gives me a good three months of writing time.

We're pretending that 2012 just didn't happen around here.

If you're sticking with me, thanks for the patience.

Welcome to the Playground

Why are you reading this? And what the hell is it?

I can’t really answer that first question, but I’ll make a mostly futile attempt to answer the second. This is my blog. It’s meant to be a very personal reaction to the world of film. What do movies mean to yours truly?

If I was wiser, I would follow the conventional wisdom of finding a specialty for my online writing.

But I’m not...I only have a vague sense of direction.

Here’s what it is:

Dumpster Diving: Continuing to dive into the mountain of crappy, cheap DVDs that I’m addicted to buying. And which sit unloved on my shelf.

Movies about F’ing Losers: Continuing to delve into one of my favorite cinematic obsessions, the world of the anti-hero.

Evolution of a Film Snob: Talking about my formative experiences as a film elitist. Favorite movies, viewing experiences, etc.

The Playground Gets Ponderous: My chance to play film theorist, and study the philosophical subtexts and thematic unity in a wide variety of films.

And...

The List of Shame: We all have our list of great classics that we haven’t made the time for. Here’s mine. Crossing movies off the “list” and blogging about them.

But wait, there's more!

The "Early" Production Diary: My entries covering the making of my next short film. A wildly ambitious (and possibly fool hardy) thirty minute short.

Actor/Filmmaker Interviews: Some industry folks have been nice enough to let me ask them some questions. Or put up with my stalking. One or the other.

Movies I Actually Enjoy: I spend a lot of time raining down my discontent on this blog. So what do I actually enjoy? Not a strict top 100, or a personal top 10 list...just stuff I think is solid.

Why Remember Anything?: I wonder why I still remember certain movies. Why do somethings stick out in a lifetime of cinematic rubble?

Public Domain Hell: The cinematic land of Misfit Toys...movies that are now available for free in the Public Domain.

How often can you expect a blog entry? Now that you’re shamefully addicted...I’m trying to post at least twice a week. Or maybe once a week. Or once a month...
